After several years working with at-risk youth in Milwaukee’s central city, Rick Polk developed a sincere desire to create an initiative that would encourage, equip and empower urban teenagers to take responsibility for their own lives and their own actions. And in 2013, Polk founded OWN IT Mentoring Group, which provides a solution to the hardships plaguing our society. By reaching out to young people and helping them realize their potential, OWN IT Mentoring Group encourages people to stop blaming, stop complaining and to OWN all aspects of their lives, past, present and future. Over the course of a few years, OWN IT has become more than a name, it is becoming a “brand” and a way of life for its founder and followers.
